Underpaying Creative Minds

Why do people think it is OK to pay creative minds very little money for their work?
I don't understand it.

I have seen alot of people wanting to pay as little as $30 for a logo design.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?!

It is very hard work to come up with a company/product/service brand image. The image that represents to the fullest. It must convey practicality, the company voice, the company image, and attract attention.

If you can't do something yourself then obviously it is specialized work and you should pay accordingly. A logo should be made for no less than $300 if you ask me.

If you think about all the work that goes into it, creatives should actually make more than that flat rate.

All I am trying to say is that people need to wake up and realize that the people they are paying have to eat and they have bills to pay. It is really sick to underpay people.

Contest Website

Well first off, what is a contest website? In the Advertising and Graphic design field a contest website is place where people go with a project that they need done. Such as a logo, a brochure, website, etc. They list all the specifics and set a price that they are willing to pay for the finished work. Then like a bunch of piranhas, a shit load of freelancers compete with each other and create some designs and submit them.

These contests sometimes last a month or longer. So what does the "employer" end up with? Way too many designs to pick from, and most of the designs are really terrible and not high quality at all.

I have also noticed that on these websites, most of the "designers" are living in the middle east. They have poor spelling and poor grammar. They undercharge, making the rest of us that are trying to earn a decent wage obsolete in a sense.

The only thing I see coming out of these contest websites are cheaper prices. That is it.

So if you want cheaper prices, low quality work, and poor spelling and grammar then go to a contest website.

If you want high quality work, affordable and quality service then come to me!

I spent most of this winter break creating my website, portfolio, and now blog. It was alot of work but It was worth it. Now all I need is clients lol
