Why do people think it is OK to pay creative minds very little money for their work?
I don't understand it.
I have seen alot of people wanting to pay as little as $30 for a logo design.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?!
It is very hard work to come up with a company/product/service brand image. The image that represents to the fullest. It must convey practicality, the company voice, the company image, and attract attention.
If you can't do something yourself then obviously it is specialized work and you should pay accordingly. A logo should be made for no less than $300 if you ask me.
If you think about all the work that goes into it, creatives should actually make more than that flat rate.
All I am trying to say is that people need to wake up and realize that the people they are paying have to eat and they have bills to pay. It is really sick to underpay people.
I hear you Ben. I have not done a lot of paid projects, but outsourcing of jobs in the design and web industry is leading to a decline in standards as far as I'm concerned. Just look at the popular "freelancing job board" sites and you'll see that a company in India will easily do a job for half the cost.
ReplyDeleteNow, to me it's all about quality. You pay what you get for. If someone payed me 30 bucks to do a logo, I'd say that's about two hours tops of work. So, that's how much I'd put into it. It's all about what fits their bill.
Let me rephrase that... haha. Meant to say "you get what you pay for." Dang it's getting late already.
ReplyDeleteYa dude, outsourcing is so lame. It makes all the professionals and people with actual skills look like shit and it also makes it look like we overcharge when in reality they r undercharging and ruining the industry. I also agree very much with u get what u pay for.
ReplyDeleteLolz thanks for posting Aaron!! Makes me happy that someone is reading my blog every once in awhile. Its been awhile and I need to make more posts. Also I am redoing my website.
